The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed cornerback Brent Grimes to a two-year deal.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers enter this off-season with a ton of cap space and holes to fill. One of those holes that they needed to fill was in their secondary. Needing another corner, the Buccaneers have been aggressive in free agency. They have reached an agreement with former Miami Dolphins cornerback Brent Grimes.

Grimes should provide an immediate upgrade to a secondary that needs help. He had 49 tackles last season with four interceptions and 14 passes defended in 15 games. Grimes had 13 interceptions in three seasons with the Dolphins. Over his career, he has 26 interceptions and 421 tackles in nine seasons (seven of them as a starter).

Brent Grimes will be joining a secondary that allowed 3,840 passing yards last season. The Buccaneers secondary has long needed a veteran presence since they let go of Darrell Revis. Grimes should give them that as a four-time Pro Bowler.

Having a strong pass defense in the NFC South is necessary because it features Cam Newton of the Panthers, Drew Brees of the Saints, and Matt Ryan of the Falcons. If you want to compete in the NFC South, a strong secondary is an absolute must. Grimes helps the Buccaneers have a better secondary.
