Nik Stauskas channeled in his inner Tracy McGrady by tossing a pass off the backboard to himself for the score

Nik Stauskas, better also known as Sauce Castillo, has shown flashes of quality play since joining the Philadelphia 76ers for the 2015-16 season. While the defensive ineptitude is still there, he’s shown signs of being a quality offensive player. However, no one would have ever mistook the Sixers guard for potential future Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady—but they might’ve on Friday night against the Brooklyn Nets.

In the lottery-battle for the ages, Stauskas was trying to take Sergey Karasev off of the dribble and get an open jumper. When he pulled up, though, Karasev stayed on Sauce, so Stauskas had to get a bit creative. He pivoted to spin back into the lane and then threw a lob up off the backboard to serve as a pass to himself as he went up to the rim for the finish—albeit a lay-up and not a dunk:

There are just too many things to handle happening here. For one, that’s a fantastically smart play by Stauskas to create space to get a shot like that off. Secondly, it’s absolutely hilarious to see that play with McGrady in mind as this was more T-Mac in the All-Star Celebrity Game past his prime and out of shape than it was T-Mac in his prime when he hammered it home after making that play.

Regardless, we should just be thankful that the Sauce Castillo moment lives on in Philadelphia. May it forever be spicy.
