Sprint Cup: Good Sam 500 2016 qualifying results

Here are the complete qualifying results for the 2016 Good Sam 500 at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday.

On Sunday, an opportunity will present itself to all of the drivers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. At the 2016 Good Sam 500 at Phoenix International Raceway, the fourth spot in the Chase will be on the line for the lucky winner of the race, should one of the drivers that won in the first three weeks not win.

A new winner this week would mean that four drivers will be set in stone with a spot to compete for a Sprint Cup Championship this fall, as a quarter of the field would be officially set.

On Friday, it was another intense day of qualifying for many drivers. In the first round of qualifying, Kasey Kahne had some bad luck. While he was one of the fastest in the first round, his engine blew after his run and he will now start in the rear of the pack on Sunday.

In the second round, it was Joe Gibbs Racing that controlled the way things were ran, as Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards were the three fastest drivers. In the last round of qualifying, Jimmie Johnson blew a tire and hit the wall.

In the end, it was Kyle Busch that was the fastest. Kyle will be on the pole on Sunday. Here are the complete qualifying results.
