Andre Iguodala will be out two weeks with ankle sprain

Warriors coach Steve Kerr announced on Saturday, that forward Andre Iguodala will be out two weeks with an ankle sprain.

While the Golden State Warriors are chasing NBA history for the best regular season record of all time, the team has had to deal with their fair share of injuries this season in their pursuit. Last season, the Warriors had the great fortune of remaining relatively healthy, which really helped launch them toward the franchise’s first NBA Championship in 40 years.

On Friday night, the Warriors pulled off one of their most impressive offensive outputs of the season when they defeated the Portland Trail Blazers and racked up 81 points in the first half alone. While it was an impressive night for the Warriors, there was one cause for concern that occurred during the game.

Forward Andre Iguodala fell to the ground clutching his ankle and he limped off the court. There wasn’t immediate word about his condition, but before the Warriors took on the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night, Kerr gave some insight into just how Iguodala is doing.

According to Kerr, Iguodala is going to be out two weeks with an ankle sprain, which could have a big effect on the team’s chase for history.

While the team has some easy wins coming up on the schedule at home, they will soon go on a Texas road trip that could prove to be their toughest test if they’re going to make history and finish with the best record overall.

Without Iguodala on the bench, there is a noticeable difference and their doesn’t seem to be that one player that can come off the bench and take charge. They noticeably had some problems without him in recent weeks.

However, getting Iguodala healthy for the playoffs and another championship run is more important to the Warriors than making history and if any other players begin to show signs of wear and tear, then Kerr could start to rest those players as well with the grueling stretch of the NBA postseason set to begin soon.
