It is almost time for March Madness and that means a lot of discussion surrounding NBA Draft prospects. The best of the best in college basketball will be scouted extensively by NBA types in the coming days, and given the league’s lottery-based draft system, the worst teams in the association will have the highest chance of acquiring top-tier talent when the 2016 NBA Draft rolls around in June.

With that in mind, we rank the five worst teams (or the “best” teams from a tanking perspective) in the NBA each week, and this week’s edition is here. Let’s get through this together.

5. team. 69.
A win over Sacramento early in the week appeared to put the Pelicans on a trajectory that would not involve placement in these rankings. Then, New Orleans decided to lose to this version of the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday, and that means Anthony Davis and company have still lost six of their last seven games.

Without taking a deep dive into Memphis, the Grizzlies are playing without half of their roster due to injuries, and New Orleans simply can’t lose that game right now. Publicly, the Pelicans are still feigning interesting in the playoff race, but that is now out of the question and New Orleans is inexplicably bad given the presence of Davis.

On a neutral court, there are probably a few teams that would be underdogs to the Pelicans right now, but the body of work has been ugly and the Memphis game illustrated that again.
.
