Former Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott was arrested for DUI on Saturday a month ahead of the NFL Draft

Dak Prescott had a highly successful and productive career as the quarterback of the Mississippi State Bulldogs. It was a college career that he’s now trying to turn into a pro career as he enters the 2016 NFL Draft with reports on Saturday that he’s drawing interest from several teams around the league. However, his stock could be set to fall in a major way after a DUI arrest early on Saturday morning in Starkville, MS.

According to a report from The Clarion-Ledger, Prescott was pulled over and arrested for driving under the influence early on Saturday morning. There aren’t a whole lot of details regarding the situation and the arrest, but the Starkville police department confirmed that Prescott had been arrested.

The former Mississippi State star broke almost every quarterback record that the Bulldogs had in his three years as the starter in the program and, with his size and playmaking ability at the position, looked to be a mid-round pick as one of the better quarterbacks in the 2016 NFL Draft class.

However, incidents like this coming so close to the draft almost always hinder a player’s draft stock in a major way. We’ve seen players arrested for far less serious offenses drop down several rounds in years past because of when the arrest occurred and the character concerns that are ultimately raised.

Though details about the incident and arrest could make things better, it seems as if Dak Prescott’s dumb decision and subsequent arrest are likely to lessen his prospects for the NFL Draft in a major way.
