Updated 2016 Big 12 Tournament bracket: Kansas beats West Virginia in final

A look at the updated 2016 Big 12 Tournament bracket after Kansas defeated West Virginia in the final

The Kansas Jayhawks knew what was on the line as they went into the 2016 Big 12 Tournament. After dominating in the regular season, the top-seeded Jayhawks had to recognize that winning the Big 12 Tournament title would all but secure Kansas the No. 1-overall seed in the 2016 NCAA Tournament. All they had to do on Saturday night, though, was take down the West Virginia Mountaineers in the final.

Though the Mountaineers were the No. 2 seed to Kansas’ No. 1 coming into the Big 12 Tournament final, the Jayhawks proved their dominance in the second half. Sure, Kansas went into halftime trailing by a point, but they pulled away in a major way on Saturday night to get to the top of the Big 12 and win the conference tournament title.

It was a likely trio that carried the way for the Jayhawks as Devonte’ Graham, Wayne Selden, and Perry Ellis all came to play in a major way. However, with this victory and Kansas likely securing the No. 1-overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, they now have a target on their back and each of the other 67 teams will be gunning for them.

Before moving forward, though, let’s look at the 2016 Big 12 Tournament bracket now that Kansas has defeated West Virginia on Saturday night.

Both of these teams are bound for bigger things with national glory and titles on their mind in March Madness now that the Big 12 Tournament has concluded. However, this big win for Kansas certainly seems to put them in the driver’s seat moving forward.
