No. 9 West Virginia Mountaineers vs No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks

Just like in the regular season, the Kansas Jayhawks and West Virginia Mountaineers are going to finish as the Big 12’s top two teams, respectively. West Virginia survived quite the scare on Friday night in the conference tournament semifinals, avoiding a buzzer-beater for the ages as Buddy Hield’s potential game-winner from half court was just a tenth of a second too late.

Bob Huggins’ team is led by Joycean Paige who is averaging a team-high 14.2 points per game to go along with a 47 percent field goal shooting rate. Devin Williams is close behind with 12.9 points, 9.2 rebounds and he shoots 46 percent from the field. West Virginia’s offense is one of the most balanced in the nation as four other guys average at least nine points per game.

Kansas is the top team in college basketball right now, ranked No. 1 heading into the Big 12 Tournament title game. Barring some type of selection committee breakdown, or a double-digit loss against West Virginia, the Jayhawks will be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Can the Jayhawks make it 14 straight wins on Saturday evening?

Perry Ellis, who has seemingly been at Kansas for a decade, leads the way for the Jayhawks with 16.6 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 53 percent from the field. Don’t give him too much space, either, as he can hit the three-ball. Frank Mason III is averaging 13.5 points and shooting 42 percent from three-point range and Wayne Selden is putting up 13.1 points and shooting 41 percent from downtown.
