John Calipari and Kentucky were hit with a No. 4 seed in the East and he’s not too happy
The bracket for the 2016 NCAA Tournament has been released here on the great day that is Selection Sunday, and of course there were a lot of seedings that had some people scratching their heads. One move the committee made that had some folks bewildered was the Kentucky Wildcats being given a No. 4 seed in the East, which did seem low considering they had just won the SEC Championship a few hours earlier in the day.
Oh, and they defeated Texas A&M for that SEC Tournament title, a team that themselves was given a No. 3 seed.
But, don’t think that John Calipari didn’t take notice of how uneven that looked. As a matter of fact, he had no issues in airing his grievances on live television.
After the seeding for his team was announced, Calipari went on ESPN and he went on a little rant that — well, love him or hate him, he wasn’t all that wrong about. (h/t

He is absolutely correct about having the title game played on Sundays and this is something that’s been discussed before. You really do have to wonder whether or not they would have been given a higher seed if the SEC title game was played on Saturday rather than Sunday.
But, like he said in the interview, “It is what it is.” But now all the committee has done is send a Kentucky team into the NCAA Tournament that is playing maybe better than anyone in the country.
