A look at the East Region for the 2016 NCAA Bracket after Selection Sunday
On Selection Sunday, the 2016 NCAA Bracket was announced and the dreams of 68 college basketball teams of winning the 2016 national title were kept alive. However, there’s still a lot of college hoops to be played before the champion is ultimately determined, most pressingly the champions from each region. One of the most intriguing is the East Region with the semifinals and finals in the East Region taking place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA.
The No.1 seed went to the North Carolina Tar Heels out of the ACC. The Tar Heels finished the season going 28-6 and winning their conference title for both the regular season and the 2016 ACC Tournament, led behind the stellar play of one of the ACC’s best players in Brice Johnson:
The No. 2 seed in the East Region of the 2016 NCAA Bracket is the Xavier Musketeers, who finished second in the Big East during the regular season going 27-5 on the year. The West Virginia Mountaineers comes in as the No. 3 seed in the East Region after losing in the Big 12 Tournament title game.
Now that the full East Region of the 2016 NCAA Bracket has been revealed, let’s take a look at the entire region to see how things could play out.
The 5-12 matchup between the Indiana Hoosiers and the Chattanooga Mocs is one to certainly keep an eye on, especially if you’re looking for upsets in the East Region. In that same light, the battle between the No. 3 West Virginia Mountaineers and No. 14 Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks is another that could steal the show in the East.
