Virginia is the Midwest Region’s No. 1 seed and they will have a huge target on their back over the next few weeks. Many are a little surprised over this decision as Michigan State won the Big Ten Tournament title and finished 29-5, but the Virginia Cavaliers, runner-ups in the ACC Tournament, stole the top seed.

The Cavaliers should be watching out for No. 2 seed Michigan State, though, as the Spartans are likely to face them for the third time in as many seasons. You can bet no one wants to face the Spartans, especially the way they were robbed of a No. 1 seed. The Spartans will have to get by Middle Tennessee first.
Virginia will have to get past the winner of No. 8 Texas Tech and No. 9 Butler in the first weekend, though.
Purdue is dangerous as the Midwest’s No. 5 seed and could be a major sleeper to make the Final Four. The Boilermakers played Michigan State tough in the Big Ten Tournament title game and proved they can hang with anyone.
Iowa State as the No. 4 seed could also pose some problems for Virginia in the top half of the bracket, but they will have to get by Iona.
The team that pulled off a major upset over Villanova in the Big East Tournament and knocked the Wildcats out of the No. 1 seed line, Seton Hall will be the No. 6 seed.
Utah is the No. 3 seed and will face No. 14 Fresno State while the No. 7 vs. No. 10 matchup is interesting as Syracuse will face Dayton for a shot to potentially play Tom Izzo and Michigan State.
