2. St. Bonaventure Bonnies

By far one of the most shockingly competitive conferences in college basketball this past season was the Atlantic 10 as the league finished with a three-team tie atop the conference. Two of those teams are dancing in the field of 68 in the NCAA Tournament in the Dayton Flyers and the VCU Rams. However, the selection committee snubbed the third team in the St. Bonaventure Bonnies in a major way.

The Bonnies didn’t do a great deal in regards to their non-conference schedule in the regular season as they lost their two toughest games that they had against the Syracuse Orange and the Hofstra Pride. However, it was really the performance in the A-10 that should have held more weight for St. Bonaventure in regards to their resume to take part in March Madness. Not only did the Bonnies earn a win over Dayton in conference play, but they also beat the Saint Joseph’s Hawks—the team that ultimately won the A-10 Tournament title—twice in the regular season. That’s three quality wins on the season that shouldn’t have gone unnoticed.

Apparently they did, though, and the Atlantic 10 as a conference didn’t get near all of the respect that it deserves. As unfortunate as it may seem, the Bonnies are the example of that as they are on the outside looking in of the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
