2016 NCAA Tournament: East Region Capsule

The brackets are unveiled! Let the games begin!

More from College Basketball Odds

For those of you that do the bracket games, I will unveil all of my picks by Wednesday night. For those of you that play the round by round games, I will also put my picks out there after every round as well. There will be something for everyone!

In the preview, I will give you a favorite, and dark horse team, which would be a four seed or higher than could win the region. A team to watch for, overseeded and underseeded teams, and of course, a double digit seed most likely to win one or more games.

Just in case you missed any:
Midwest Region

Now, on to the East regional.

Favorite: North Carolina. Many people like the Tarheels to cut down the nets in Houston this year, and with the way they played in the ACC Tournament, it would be hard to argue with that. They seem to be peaking at the right time, much like Michigan State.

Watch out for: West Virginia. The Mountaineers will be able to slow down anyone. They are tough, play tenacious defense, and work the whole court. They are especially dangerous when you only have one day to prepare for them. They are a well built tournament team.

Dark Horse: Kentucky. This is a very dangerous team. The Wildcats don’t have the talent of last year’s team, but they are playing their best basketball right now. It really doesn’t matter where they are seeded. Kentucky will show up.

Begging To Be Upset: Xavier. Don’t get me wrong. I love Xavier and the way that they play, but man, did they get a tough draw. They are likely overseeded at two, but they have the toughest three seed in the field, along with North Carolina, Indiana, who won the Big Ten regular season title, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Notre Dame all in their region. Ouch!

Overseeded: Wisconsin: Since I already mentioned Xavier, I will go with Wisconsin. I do get it. The Badgers played pretty well down the stretch, but losing to a mediocre Nebraska team by double digits in the conference tournament should have hurt them. It didn’t.

Underseeded: Kentucky. There are a few. Indiana as a five is probably a bit underseeded. I do understand why Kentucky is where they are. The SEC wasn’t great this year. That hurt them, but they are one of the most dangerous four seeds in recent memory.

Cinderella: Chattanooga. The Mocs have the firepower to hang with Indiana if they can hit shots. I don’t think they can contain Yogi Ferrell, but strange things happen come tournament time. The longer Chattanooga hangs around, the more dangerous this is for the Hoosiers.
