High Salary Defensemen

Dustin Byfuglien – Winnipeg Jets ($6,700): Byfuglien has been done excellent this season for the Jets with 46 points (17 goals and 29 assists), 185 hits, 85 blocked shots, 97 penalty minutes, and 209 shots on goal. Over his last 10 games, he has eight points (one goal and seven assists), 10 penalty minutes, 19 hits, 18 blocked shots, and 29 shots on goal. Byfuglien goes tonight against the Canucks who have struggled against defensemen this season. The Jets blue liner averages 3.7 fantasy hockey points per game.

Roman Josi – Nashville Predators ($7,000): Josi has been a huge reason for the Predators recent success. He has seven assists, 28 blocked shots, eight hits, and 28 shots on goal over his last 10 games. On the season, Josi has 12 goals, 38 assists, 50 points, 47 hits, 168 blocked shots, and 165 shots on goal. He’ll go tonight against the Oilers averaging four fantasy points per game.

Brent Seabrook – Chicago Blackhawks ($5,900): Once again, the question is whether to consider Seabrook or his teammate Duncan Keith. Tonight, the answer is Seabrook because he has produced better this season at home than Keith. He has 42 points (13 goals and 29 assists), 99 hits, 122 blocked shots, and 147 shots on goal. Over his last 10 games, Seabrook has seven points, 17 hits, 19 blocked shots, and 24 shots on goal. He averages 3.4 fantasy hockey points per game.

High Value Defensemen

Nick Leddy – New York Islanders ($4,700): Leddy has been playing quite well as of late. He has 36 points (five goals and 31 assists) with 60 hits, 71 blocked shots, and 98 shots on goal. Over his last 10 games, Leddy has nine points (eight assists and a goal), five hits, 12 blocked shots, and 13 shots on goal. He averages 2.4 fantasy points per game.

Jake Muzzin – Los Angeles Kings ($5,400): Muzzin isn’t quite as productive or well-known as his partner Drew Doughty, but Muzzin is a great player. He has 36 points (eight goals and 28 assists), 163 hits, 103 blocked shots, and 168 shots on goal this season in 67 games. Over his last 10 games, Muzzin has five points, 31 hits, 19 blocked shots, and 34 shots on goal. He averages 3.2 fantasy hockey points per game.

Aaron Ekblad – Florida Panthers ($5,000): Ekblad has 29 points (15 goals and 14 assists) with 73 hits, 44 blocked shots, and 157 shots on goal in 66 games this season. He has four points, seven hits, five blocked shots, and 22 shots on goal over his last 10 games. Ekblad goes tonight against the Islanders averaging 2.6 fantasy hockey points per game.
