Mark Sanchez has his introductory press conference as a new member of the Denver Broncos and the backup quarterback delivered a very memorable quote.

New Denver Broncos quarterback Mark Sanchez, formerly of the New York Jets and the Philadelphia Eagles, had his introductory press conference Monday afternoon. While Sanchez is certainly excited about playing for the defending Super Bowl Champions in 2016, he delivered a memorable, albeit sad quote at his presser: “I don’t have a girlfriend. I don’t have kids…I just want to play ball…and I want to win.”

Sanchez was traded to the Broncos by the Eagles for a conditional late round pick late last week. He spent the last two seasons as a backup quarterback in Philadelphia under then head coach Chip Kelly after failing as a starter for the Jets under then head coach Rex Ryan in 2013.

Sanchez still has significant value in this league, but not as the franchise quarterback he was drafted to be at No. 5 out of USC in 2009 by the Jets. Denver is dealing with the fallout of Peyton Manning’s retirement and Brock Osweiler’s abrupt decision to spurn the Broncos to sign with the Houston Texans in 2016 NFL free agency.

For now, Sanchez is No. 1 on the quarterback depth chart in Denver ahead of last year’s third-stringer Trevor Siemian, formerly of the Northwestern Wildcats in the Big 10. Denver may look to upgrade their quarterback position further with a more higher-end signing than Sanchez before organized team activities this spring, possibly drafting a quarterback with the last pick in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

If Denver runs out of options, at least Sanchez is committed to the Broncos. He doesn’t have a wife and kids at home and is all about winning. He did quarterback two poor Jets’ offenses to back-to-back AFC Championships in 2009-10. Is the new franchise quarterback of the Broncos indeed The Sanchize? At this moment, yes???
