FanDuel Picks For March 14

Welcome to the first edition of Picks & Pivots, a daily fantasy column focused on providing analysis for the upcoming NBA FanDuel slate. The purpose of this column is to first identify key building blocks that can be used for any roster construction and then identify pivot points to help differentiate your lineup in hopes of a big pay day!

Starting with a first look at the overall slate, you will find some high scoring match-ups with many of the usual suspects sitting atop of the Vegas projections including New Orleans at Golden State and Portland at Oklahoma City.

However, the game that has my attention is Minnesota at Phoenix, as the game projects to be equally as high scoring but unlike the previously mentioned games is expected to be very close. Taking into account the blowout risk in the other games, this match-up specifically for the Timberwolves gives us the ability to target a variety of lower priced players in one of the most favorable match-ups a team can have against the Suns.

First, at PG – Ricky Rubio. The Suns have consistently allowed the most fantasy points to opposing PG over the last 3 weeks, and Rubio being very fairly priced at $6,600 allows you to roster a player with high upside (as shown by his last game out with 46.6 points) at a mid range price.

SG/SF – Zach Lavine & Andrew Wiggins. Again, the Suns have been one of the worst teams in the league at defending the SG/SF Positions  throughout the season and Lavine and Wiggins, similar to Rubio, give us the ability to build a roster using mid-range salaries that have high upside in a very favorable match-up.

Another team I always make a point to target is the Houston Rockets and tonight they take on the Memphis Grizzlies. For anyone who has been playing DFS over the last week, the Grizzlies have been a very popular option for those seeking budget friendly options.

Tonight is no different and one player that will be in every one of my lineups is PF-JaMychal Green. Zach Randolph has already been ruled out setting Green up to play massive minutes again against the team allowing the most fantasy points on the season to PF. Fire him up in every format as at $6,200, he allows you the ability to be incredibly flexible at other positions.

The beauty of building your roster with a foundation of the players mentioned above is that it allows you the ability to roster a variety of combinations including some of tonight’s biggest stars at the higher prices.

With a Vegas total pushing 230, you will want some exposure to the Warriors/Pelicans game, specifically the back court duo of Steph Curry/Klay Thompson who have massive upside in a very favorable match-up against a completly depleted New Orleans back court.

Another potential pivot, is to utilize the cost savings to target the high priced studs from the OKC-Portland game, including Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook & Damian Lillard. With so many great match-ups at PG, Kevin Durant is the preferred play in this match-up for me as we all know the upside he can bring in a position that is difficult to fill.

Go ahead and start your lineup with the options from Minnesota and Memphis tonight and pivot to the stars in the projected highest priced games. There should be plenty of fantasy points and hopefully profit to follow!
