Previewing the South Region of the 2016 NCAA Bracket with the Kansas Jayhawks as the No. 1 seed
The field and the bracket for the 2016 NCAA Tournament have now been set and the most insane part of March Madness is now set to get rolling. While every matchup and all 68 teams deserve their fair share of analysis, it never hurts to take a bit of a deep dive into each region. Why not start with the South Region where the No. 1-overall seed in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, the Kansas Jayhawks, will set up shop?
There is a plethora of talent outside of the Jayhawks in the South Region of the NCAA Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the region is the Villanova Wildcats, a team that was in the running to get a No. 1 seed just a few days ago before falling in the Big East Tournament final.
In addition, teams like the No. 3 Miami Hurricanes, No. 4 Cal Golden Bears, and No. 5 Maryland Terrapins have all shown the potential to be top-10 teams in the nation at various points throughout the season. All in all, the South Region may well be the most talent-laden region in the entire 2016 NCAA Tournament bracket.
Let’s not stop there, though. It’s time to take a deeper look at Kansas, the potential upsets in the first round, the weakest seed in the tournament, and who will come out on top of the region when it’s all said and done.
