NFL power ranking: Post free agency first wave
By Randy Gurzi
An NFL power ranking of all 32 teams after the first wave of free agency has been completed.
The new NFL season began on March 9th as teams were able to officially sign free agents to contracts. Sure, there was a two day “legal tampering period” where negotiations were taking place, but the main action started on the official first day of the season.
Now that the whirlwind of activity has slowed down just a little, we can sit back and assess where teams are after making a few upgrades, or subtractions, to their respective rosters.
Mainstream media and fans tend to overreact to the big money signings, but will those really make a team better? For the most part, history doesn’t prove that to be the truth as teams like the Philadelphia Eagles went all in back in 2011 during free agency.
That team was dubbed the “Dream Team” by one of their players signed, and the results weren’t pretty. In the end, their head coach and his entire staff were canned, and the players that were brought in were gone almost as quickly.
That doesn’t mean all free agent signings are bad, just that teams need to make sure they are taking calculated risks when grabbing players that another team felt wasn’t worth the money they ended up getting.
With all that in mind, let’s take a look at the NFL power rankings after the exciting first wave of free agency.
