Kristaps Porzingis nails Steph Curry hallway shot (Video)

Kristaps Porzingis, the rookie phenom for the New York Knicks, did his best Steph Curry impression while knocking down the warm-up shot.

Anything you can do, I can do better.

There aren’t a lot of players – or human beings on earth, for that matter – who can do even half of what Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry does on a nightly basis in the NBA. He is the biggest story in basketball right now, and his team is perhaps on the verge of eclipsing the Chicago Bulls for the best regular season record in history.

At the other end of the spectrum are the New York Knicks, mired near the bottom of their conference and with loads of uncertainty surrounding their head coach, team president, and star players. If there’s a silver lining for this lost season, however, it’s indisputably been the surprising play of Latvian rookie power forward Kristaps Porzingis.

Hailed with a chorus of boos upon his fourth overall selection by the Knicks in last summer’s draft, Porzingis shut the haters up real quick early on in the season and has since enraptured a fanbase searching for something, anything, to cheer about during these dark and troubled times in the Big Apple.

And now he’s even trying to emulate the game’s greatest star, sinking this trick shot during warm-ups in Golden State.

No big deal. It’s just a long-distance hallway shot that Stephen Curry has popularized as part of his warm-up routine every night, and Porzingis must have felt that as long as he was in Curry’s building, he might as well try it for himself and see what happens.

The result, like everything else Porzingis has done this season, was simply awesome, and further proof that the 20-year-old European star can ball with the best of them. Now if he can just copy Curry’s recipe for bringing home a championship, Knicks fans will really have something to smile about.
