CONTENDER: Miami Heat

The Miami Heat may very well be whole again, and just in time for a playoff run in the East.

Bosh has been dealing with clots since last season, which has sidelined him for long stretches and has seriously threatened his long term health. The decision for Chris Bosh to return should be not taken lightly; the most important thing is making sure Bosh doesn’t seriously harm himself getting back on the court.

But, I mean … what’s not to love about this lineup?

PG: Goran Dragic
SG: Dwyane Wade
SF: Joe Johnson
PF: Luol Deng
C: Chris Bosh

Bench: Hassan Whiteside, Justise Winslow, the ghost of Amar’e Stoudemire, etc.

Four years ago, that team goes for 70+ wins. This year, it’s good enough to seriously challenge the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference.

Even if Bosh comes back in a limited role, Whiteside’s enormous contributions at center make this lineup the most intriguing in the East. Since the All-Star Break, Whiteside has been a double-double machine, scoring 18 ppg and pulling down over 15 rebounds per game.

This new Heat lineup spaces the floor and protects the rim. With Bosh back, every player in that starting lineup is capable of shooting from distance. Without him, Whiteside still sets up teammates with picks and passes. These playoffs should mark the reemergence of the Heat as legitimate contenders.
