Which free-agent signings help their new teams the most?

Over the past three days, a lot has happened in the NFL in regards to free agency. Some of the free agent signings were foregone conclusions, while others have taken everyone by surprise. Regardless of how obvious the deals are, every team has the same goal in mind when they sign free agents: improve for next season.

This time of year is great for fans of almost every team. Teams feel like they are improving across the board, and there is a strong sense of optimism across almost every fan base. Before any games are played, a lot of teams feel like this might be their year.

Unfortunately, the reality is that not every team gets to improve. Some teams made very smart moves in free agency, while others paid top dollar for what will result in minimal production. Hindsight is 20/20 and signings that look good now may end up being complete busts this time next year.

For example, Ndamukong Suh vastly underperformed his contract last year and things like this happen every year. Right now, we’re going to run down what the top free agency signings of 2016 were and why. These rankings are based on how much the player projects to help his new team and the value they were signed at.
