Free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace is expected to sign with the Baltimore Ravens after visiting them on Tuesday.
Just a day after signing safety Eric Weddle, the Baltimore Ravens hosted free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace. The Ravens are quite familiar with Wallace since he was a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers for several seasons. After visiting with them, the Ravens are expected to sign Wallace. Terms of the contract have not yet been released.

Wallace needs to rebuild his reputation after some rough seasons with Miami and Minnesota, but ESPN Insider Adam Schefter said that the Ravens were willing to commit more than $11 million to him, a figure that raised some eyebrows.

That said, Wallace should be a perfect fit for the Ravens offense. Baltimore lacked a deep threat last season, and it showed as defenses were able to hone in on stopping the run and short passing game. Wallace gives them a deep threat. With 2015 first round pick Breshad Perriman hopefully ready for the season after missing all of 2015, he and Wallace should give the Ravens two strong deep threats.

Wallace had six straight 750-yard receiving seasons to open his career and five straight 800-yard seasons before getting just 473 receiving yards with the Minnesota Vikings in 2015. Joe Flacco has a great arm, so it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Wallace bounces back for a successful season in 2016.
