The New England Patriots will be signing Chris Long to replace Chandler Jones.
It was a busy Tuesday at Foxboro, as the New England Patriots were wheeling and dealing to try and get a roster they think will take them back to the Super Bowl. While they haven’t been super active in free agency, Bill Belichick has made his first big move that might end up being the only huge move they make.
According to Trey Wingo from ESPN, the Patriots will be signing Chris Long.
And there it is . Chris Long is going to New England.

The move comes after the Patriots traded Chandler Jones to the Arizona Cardinals. It would make sense that Long is going to be the replacement — at least in part — for Jones.
Long had some decent years with the Rams, but was a cap casualty when the team moved to Los Angeles and is coming off a year where he was plagued by injuries that have savaged his once sky-high potential. While he has stumbled out of the gate in his career, Long is far from a bust and might have just made the best decision he could for the future of his career in football.
New England is a place where veterans quietly go to revive their careers. Guys like Aqib Talib, LeGarrette Blount, Brandon Browner and even Darrelle Revis have used stops in New England to recharge their careers.
Being on Matt Patricia’s defensive front might be exactly what Long needs.
