The Carolina Panthers fired back at Goose Gossage and his comments about Cam Newton.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame closer Goose Gossage of New York Yankees and San Diego Padres lore will occasionally open his mouth and spit out remarks essentially hating on America’s new stars in professional sports.

Gossage told the New York Post that he doesn’t like nerds in baseball, hates the Bat Flip generation, and “it’s a shame…to see the direction the game is going. What do we want, a bunch of Cam Newton’s running around?”

Given that Newton doesn’t play baseball professionally, it’s a bit non-sequitur to say that the Panthers MVP quarterback is responsible for the Bat Flip generation in Major League Baseball. The Panthers love their quarterback and then posted a video of Newton running around Bank of America Stadium in response to Gossage’s out of left field comments.

Sure, Newton may not have conducted himself with the utmost class in defeat after Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, but he’s arguably the most electrifying and motivating player in the NFL today. He plays football with tremendous joy and his teammates loving going to war with him on the gridiron on Fall Sundays.

Though the 2015 Panthers came up short by a game of winning the franchise’s first Lombardi Trophy, Carolina had a ridiculously great season in the NFC, going 15-1 during the 2015 NFL campaign with their only loss coming to the division rival Atlanta Falcons in the Georgia Dome in Week 16.

Gossage may not care for the way that Newton conducts himself on the gridiron, but neither Newton or the Panthers seem to care about Gossage’s comments. Carolina is still presumably a favorite in the NFC to get back to Super Bowl LI in Houston this upcoming February.
