The New England Patriots have acquired Martellus Bennett from the Chicago Bears.

It has been a busy 48 hours for the New England Patriots, as the team has come out swinging after laying dormant for most of the start of this offseason.

According to Adam Schefter from ESPN, the Patriots and bears will swap mid-round picks in addition to Bennett.

This trade comes on the heels of the Pats dealing Chandler Jones and then signing Chris Long from the free agent pool. After a quiet start to the offseason, the Patriots seem to have figured out what they want to do and are making things happen in a big way.

The addition of Bennett seems confusing with Gronk already in town, but lest we forget the Gronk-Aaron Hernandez days at Foxboro. While Gronkowski is the best tight end in football, having a dual-threat for Brady to work with is never a bad thing.

Sure, it’s another tight end in New England but the Patriots need receiving targets and this might end up making the offense as potent as it’s ever been.
