Yasiel Puig won’t be suspended by MLB for his role in a bar fight

MLB’s new domestic violence policy has already been put to the test this offseason. New York Yankees reliever Aroldis Chapman will be suspended for the first 30 games of this upcoming season and the Colorado Rockies put Jose Reyes on the restricted list after his incident in Hawaii that is still under investigation.

Another possible test for the policy was when a video of Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig getting into a bar fight emerged during the off-season.

Puig was alleged to have fought a bouncer outside a Miami bar. TMZ said they had a video of it and posted it.

It turned out that the video wasn’t of Puig. Police determined that the brawl wasn’t worth any further action to it. Today MLB announced its decision that Puig will not be suspended, ending the matter and closing the book on the incident.

Puig was limited to just 79 games last season with hamstring problems and had the worst year of his career hitting just .255 with 11 homers. The Dodgers need Puig to be the guy he was a few years ago to complement Adrian Gonzalez.

With this incident now behind him, Dodgers fans are hoping that Puig can now go back to focusing on being the player he was a few years ago as opposed to the slumping star he’s been over the course of the last two seasons in Los Angeles.
