Players and coaches from the Stanford Cardinal got their bling to honor the 2015 season and a big Rose Bowl win.
For the Stanford Cardinal, the 2015 college football season was so close to being one that would go down in history of the program. After a shocking opening game upset loss to Northwestern and a two point defeat at the hands of Oregon later in the season, head coach David Shaw and his team bounced back to win the Pac-12 and sit just on the outside of the College Football Playoff.
Stanford made the most of their bowl game appearance, throttling Iowa in the Rose Bowl and putting themselves in the conversation for the 2016 playoff hunt. For their work, the players and coaches got their rings for the 2015 season at a ceremony on campus that included all you could eat steak and lobster (which would have been enough of an honor for some).
One look at the size and style of the rings show the school spared no expense when it came to honoring their accomplishments:
"Cause I got a really big team. And they need some really big rings. #TangibleEvidence #RoseBowl #GoStanfordhttps://t.co/keAt1Fk1WF— Stanford Football (@StanfordFball) March 16, 2016"
If Stanford does want to make it into the 2016 edition of the College Football Playoff, they do have an advantage with last year’s Heisman Trophy finalist returning to the field in running back Christian McCaffrey. At the same time, there are also holes to fill on both sides of the ball (including losing quarterback Kevin Hogan) that could set them back some in the conference.
