Will Hill suspended 10 games for substance abuse

Everyone wanted to know why the Ravens released Will Hill. It was because he has been suspended 10 games by the NFL for violating its substance abuse policy.

The Baltimore Ravens released safety Will Hill on Wednesday. Considering that Hill was arguably the best member of the Ravens secondary and had a very reasonable contract, people naturally wondered why the Ravens would release such a coveted player. According to Adam Schefter, the reason the Ravens released him is because he violated the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

This is sad to see. Hill has battled some demons in his life and was at one point in his career suspended three times in three seasons. He seemed to be finally getting his life together with the Ravens. It is not known precisely what Hill did to violate the substance abuse policy.

This drastically affects Will Hill’s value in free agency. Before this came out, Hill would have been attractive to many teams as a solid safety who at worst is a solid depth guy and has special team experience. However, after the 10 game suspension, Hill likely won’t be able to find a job this off-season.
