Baylor’s Rico Gathers, Taurean Prince have to be separated (Video)

Baylor teammates Rico Gathers and Taurean Prince had to be separated from a heated sideline confrontation

The Baylor Bears found themselves in much more of a fight than they probably expected on Thursday afternoon in the First Round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament as the Yale Bulldogs came out firing. Rather than rising up as a unit and overcoming the adversity, though, Baylor started to implode in a very bad way. There’s no better evidence of that than Bears teammates Rico Gathers and Taurean Prince having to be separated on the sideline.

During a timeout, fellow Baylor seniors in Gathers and Prince got into over something as they were trailing Yale, which left the two getting in each other’s face and one pushing the other. The other teammates then stepped in to separate the two talented players, but the message was clear in the most negative way possible from the Baylor bench:

There’s self-destruction and imploding and then there are instances like this that take those things just a step further. Yes, highly competitive athletes are going to get fiery at times, but these two Baylor players legitimately looked like they were about to come to blows when they should have been galvanizing their team together to help put away Yale.

Particularly if Baylor is upset, there’s no doubt that this is going to be the moment that people point to as to why the Bears were ousted by Yale.
