One cheerleader for the Colorado Buffaloes was caught on camera shedding tears after the team’s first round loss in the NCAA Tournament.

It happens every season with the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament: you have someone (a player, band member, coach or trainer to name a few) who can’t help but let their emotions show after their team gets knocked out of the 68-team tournament.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first tears of the 2016 NCAA Tournament and they come from our friends at the University of Colorado, better known athletically as the Colorado Buffaloes. Following an upset loss (seeding wise) in their opening round game against the UConn Huskies, one cheerleader was visibly upset at the loss and had to be consoled by the team’s mascot:

You have to wonder if the person inside the mascot costume saw this as the opportunity to get in good with a cheerleader they had their eyes on for the entire season. If that is indeed the case, we salute you! We also salute you if you were just being nice, but that isn’t a fun storyline.

Colorado only has themselves to blame for the 74-67 loss in their tournament opener, shooing only 20 percent from the three point line and missing 11 free throws during the game. UConn now advances to the second round, where they will take on the winner of the game between top seed Kansas and 16th seed Austin Peay.
