Jaromir Jagr wants to play hockey until at least age 60

Jaromir Jagr, currently the oldest player in the NHL at the age of 44, wants to have his career last until he is “at least” 60 years old.
In the NHL this season, there may be no better story than what is going on with the Florida Panthers. A team that has been to the playoffs just one time since 2000, the Cats have a chance to win their division this season and make a serious run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
One of the amazing parts of the story has been the continued success of the ageless wonder, forward Jarmoir Jagr. At the age of 44, Jagr is still out there as one of the regular contributors for the team, constantly outplaying players who are half his age.
With over a quarter century in the NHL, Jagr isn’t anywhere close to hanging up his skates and is ready to keep going for at least the next decade and a half.
“It may be after that, but I don’t know,” Jagr said of playing till 60, per Sportsnet. “I’m not sure yet.”
“The only way you get tired with hockey is when you don’t work hard enough and you play the game and you kind of embarrass yourself. You’re embarrassed because the other guys are better than you, but that’s because you didn’t do enough to prepare for yourself for it.”
At 44, Jagr is averaging 17 minutes on ice per game and has scored 23 goals to go along with 31 assists. While it would still be a while before he would reach the magic number of 60 and anything can happen to stop that plan, there is no reason to not think that Jarmoir Jagr could be hoisting the Stanley Cup trophy in 2035 for the Las Vegas Slots or Atlanta’s next NHL franchise that will eventually leave the city.
