Kansas junior forward Landen Lucas blocked Austin Peay’s Josh Robinson in humiliating fashion
The Kansas Jayhawks were the clear favorites in their 2016 NCAA Tournament First Round matchup against the Austin Peay Governors. Obviously there’s the winless history of No. 16 seeds in the tourney, but there’s also the fact that Kansas looks like the most dominant team in the country coming into March Madness. Junior forward Landen Lucas became the embodiment of that in the first half against Austin Peay.
Before the Jayhawks had really started pulling away, Governors guard Josh Robinson was trying to keep things relatively close by driving end putting up a scoop lay-up. Lucas was having absolutely none of that as he rose up to swat the lay-up attempt emphatically back from where it came:
As if getting your lay-up blocked like that isn’t an embarrassing enough play for Robinson there, Lucas appears to swat the attempt into the legs of the Austin Peay guard. That’s just the worst possible ending for the Governors as they try to save face in a near-hopeless matchup.
It’s always hard to see what No. 1 seeds are going to do in the NCAA Tournament in the First Round just because the talent discrepancy is so severe. However, Lucas and Kansas seem entirely locked in and plays like this massive block only confirm that.
