A look at the live scoring results from the NCAA Tournament First Round game between Virginia and Hampton.

The third Midwest game in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday will feature the Virginia Cavaliers and the Hampton Pirates. The winner of this game will face the winner of No. 8 Texas Tech vs. No. 9 Butler on Saturday.

Virginia is coming off a 26-7 season while finishing second in the Atlantic Coast Conference. They would lose to North Carolina in the conference tournament on Mar. 12.

The Cavaliers are led by senior guard Malcolm Brogdon. He has been part of the past Virginia teams that have seeded highly in the NCAA Tournament but haven’t gone too far. He will need to carry the team in the scoring department through this game and a potential once against Texas Tech or Butler to make this a successful campaign for Tony Bennett’s squad.

Hampton is coming off a 21-10 season with a first place finish in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. They won their conference tournament with wins over Morgan State, Savannah State and South Carolina State.

The Pirates are led by senior guards Reginald Johnson Jr. and Quinton Chievous, both of whom are transfers. They combine for over 35 PPG of 75 PPG average that Hampton put up during the regular season. Big contributions will be needed from both players if this team stands a chance at upsetting Virginia.

With that said, here is a look at the scoring results from this game.
