The Duke Blue Devils beat the UNC Wilmington Seahawks to advance in the NCAA Tournament
The Duke Blue Devils were in serious trouble on Thursday in the First Round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament as the went into halftime trailing the No. 13 seeded UNC Wilmington Seahawks. The pace and defense of UNC Wilmington was causing Duke major problems in the first half, but Duke ultimately found a way to attack.
In the second half, the Blue Devils came out working heavily in the pick-and-roll and with big man Marshall Plumlee coming up with a number of big buckets as the roll-man attacking on the rim. When Seahawks big man C.J. Gettys then got into foul trouble and ultimately fouled out with 10 minutes still left in the game, Duke was able to have their way.
UNC Wilmington continued to fight and stay in it, but the talent of Brandon Ingram and the size of Plumlee—in addition to Duke essentially living at the foul line on the afternoon—pushed the defending national champion Blue Devils to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament with a 93-85 win.
After the win, here’s a look at the updated 2016 NCAA Tournament bracket after the No. 4 seed Duke Blue Devils advanced in the West Region to kick off the First Round.

That’s the way things shook out with plenty more action to follow in the First Round.
