Virginia Cavaliers head coach Tony Bennett collapsed at the end of the first half of their NCAA Tournament First Round game
The Virginia Cavaliers were playing the Hampton Pirates in the First Round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament and had a hefty advantage over Virginia in the first half. With halftime nearing, though, Cavaliers head coach Tony Bennett suffered a bit of a scary moment on the sidelines.
During a stoppage of play with about a minute left in the first half, Bennett was on the sideline barking out orders when he went quiet and just fell over, collapsing on the floor to create a scary scene on the hardwood (it happens in the background of the below video, just to the right of the middle of the screen):
Bennett was then helped to the bench by his assistants where they looked at him for a second before he was taken to the locker room before the first half’s final buzzer and ahead of his team.
Just looking at what happened in this situation, it’s definitely frightening that he just dropped to the floor like he did with nothing really happening around him. He looks to get light-headed for some reason and just go down.
We’ll certainly keep you up to date on Bennett’s condition moving forward as this scary situation continues for Virginia. Let’s hope the coach is fine, though, and that this isn’t indicative of any serious problems for him.
