Yale’s Brandon Sherrod sang in school acapella group, The Whiffenpoofs (Video)
Yale forward Brandon Sherrod is also a part of a school acapella group called The Whiffenpoofs
The Yale Bulldogs occupy the No. 12 seed in the West Region of the 2016 NCAA Tournament and are hoping to be this year’s Cinderella team, starting with trying to upset the Baylor Bears in the First Round. One of their key contributors is senior forward Brandon Sherrod, whose talent extends beyond the hardwood as he was also a part of an acapella group at Yale: The Whiffenpoofs. In fact, he actually stepped away from the Yale basketball team to sing with the group last season.
During the Yale-Baylor matchup on Thursday afternoon, the CBS broadcast gave fans a look at Sherrod’s other talent and, without question, the Bulldogs forward does sound quite good when he’s carrying a tune:
"Who ya got? Chuck’s #OneShiningMoment or @Yale_Basketball‘s multi-talented Brandon Sherrod? https://t.co/t8gqH6P4Mq— March Madness TV (@MarchMadnessTV) March 17, 2016"
It’s kind of crazy that Sherrod stepped away from Yale basketball season considering what he’s meant to the team this year. Not only is he a force both on offense and on the glass, but he also set a record earlier in the season by making 30 consecutive field goal attempts.
It feels pretty safe to say, though, that Sherrod will have some options once his days at Yale are over. He has his talents on the hardwood, a great voice and, if all that doesn’t work out, having a Yale education isn’t a bad “backup plan.”
