Dallas Stars center Tyler Seguin will be out three to four weeks after suffering a 15 percent cut to his Achilles tendon

The Dallas Stars enter the home stretch of the 2015-16 regular season in a dog fight with the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues for the Central Division crown. During their amazing 4-3 comeback victory on Thursday over the Tampa Bay Lightning, center and second-leading scorer Tyler Seguin suffered a freak injury when he cut his ankle and Stars fans prepared for the worst.

Well, the Dallas Stars have announced that Seguin suffered a 15 percent tear to his Achilles’ tendon and that he will miss three to four weeks.

It could have been so much worse for Seguin. Losing him for three to four weeks obviously isn’t good for the Stars, but Seguin is lucky that it wasn’t worse. Stars general manager Jim Nill described the injury in impressive detail.

As Nill said, considering that his cut was at such a horrible place, a 15 percent cut is about as good as it could have gone. If it was centimeters over, his tendon would have likely been gone.

Seguin has 73 points (33 goals and 40 assists) in 72 games this season for the Stars.
