Live scoring updates for Northern Iowa Panthers vs Texas Longhorns in the 2016 NCAA Tournament
One of the keys to winning in the NCAA Tournament is to get up for every game and not underestimate opponents in the slightest while also having the talent to take down giants. Big upsets were on the schedule often for the Northern Iowa Panthers and Texas Longhorns this season, but they’ll need to be consistent in the West Region when they match up in the First Round on Friday at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
The Longhorns have seen a bevy of big games from Isaiah Taylor and Javan Felix throughout the year, including some massive wins in the Big 12 and in non-conference action to help improve their tournament resume. Now Texas will need to step up with an NCAA Tournament run hanging in the balance.
As for Northern Iowa, they too have shown that they have the talent and wherewithal to stand up to any team in college basketball. However, the likes of Wes Washpun and Matt Bohannon have to avoid a letdown game in the First Round if they want to get past Texas and try to make a bit of a run through March Madness.
Though this is a 6-11 matchup in the NCAA Tournament, it’s much closer than you’d expect. This will certainly be a matchup to watch on Friday in First Round action.
