NCAA Tournament 2016: Syracuse vs Dayton live scoring tracker

A look at the live scoring results from the NCAA Tournament First Round game between Syracuse and Dayton.

Some people are still outraged at the fact Syracuse made this year’s NCAA Tournament so easily while schools like South Carolina, Valparaiso and even Monmouth were left out. However, you can never discount a team like Syracuse when Jim Boeheim is the head coach. He knows how to win games in March and he will do his best to lead the Orange on a deep tourney run.

The Orange finished the season on a sour note, losing 5-of-6 games and sneaking into the tournament as a No. 10 seed. Watch out for Syracuse’s leading scoring, Michael Gbinije, as he averages 17.8 points, 4.4 assists and 4.1 rebounds per contest. He’s also shooting over 40 percent from long range. When this team is on, it can fill it up from deep.

Archie Miller has turned Dayton into one of the staple mid-majors of the NCAA Tournament. The Flyers have gone from nobodies to dancing in March over the past few years and they’re not a team to take lightly. Earning the No. 7 seed in the Midwest Region, the Atlantic 10 regular season champion is ready to play Cinderella.

The Flyers are finally getting healthy at the perfect time and getting Dyshawn Pierre and Kendall Pollard back from injuries have been a huge boost. Charles Cooke leads the team offensively with 15.7 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 41 percent from deep. Pierre is close behind, averaging 13.0 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest.
