A look at the updated March Madness bracket after Hawaii pulled off the upset of Cal
On the first day of the 2016 NCAA Tournament, we got a double dose of 12-5 upsets, as Yale took down Baylor and then Arkansas-Little Rock took down Purdue. Well, apparently, Friday didn’t want to take long to up the ante in March Madness.
Coming into the tournament, the team from Hawaii was getting a lot of buzz and there were some pundits out there that believed they could pull off the upset of Cal in the First Round. Well, for those that believed this would be a 13-4 upset to look forward to, congratulations, you were correct.
In what was one of the better team performances of the tournament thus far, Hawaii did indeed take down Cal, pretty much owning the 4-seed from the Pac-12 throughout. During the second half as time was running out on their future, Cal made a good effort to come back, but ultimately it was to no avail. Hawaii is moving on.

Now the Warriors will await their opponent on Sunday. If they want to keep their run going in the South Region, they will have to do so against either South Dakota State or Maryland, who will be playing a short time from now here on Friday.
But for right now, congratulations are definitely in order for Hawaii, a team who really opened up some eyes on Friday afternoon with this amazing win.
