Miami guard Angel Rodriguez got loose on a fast break and threw a fantastic, dangerous lob for the flush
Things were not breaking the way of the Miami Hurricanes in the second half of their Second Round March Madness matchup against the Wichita State Shockers. Over the end of the first half and the start of the second, the Shockers erased a 21-point deficit to take a one-point lead about midway through the second half. That’s when Miami star guard Angel Rodriguez decided to step up and make a dangerous, yet fantastic play in transition.
After picking up a steal for the Hurricanes, Rodriguez started a fast break for Miami with fellow guard Sheldon McClellan streaking out in front. Despite Wichita State being back on defense, A-Rod made a brave play to throw a long lob up to the rim. It worked out well for him and the Hurricanes as McClellan went up above the Shockers defense to put it down for two points:
That play goes wrong at least half a time with such a risky lob being thrown in transition. However, Angel Rodriguez really made a perfect pass on the move to make the play successful. Moreover, he made a great play in a big moment as Miami desperately needed a bucket or anything positive to help stop the bleeding.
