Brice Johnson blocks Kyron Cartwright jumper into stands (Video)

Tar Heels forward Brice Johnson tossed Kyron Cartwright’s jumper into the stands with a massive block

The North Carolina Tar Heels taking on the Providence Friars on Saturday night in Second Round March Madness action may have been a No. 1 seed taking on a No. 9, but it felt much bigger with all of the talent on the floor at PNC Arena. With the game going back and forth in the first half, any play felt like it could swing the momentum. North Carolina senior forward Brice Johnson was ready to make that play on the defensive end.

With the game tied 28-28, Providence guard Kyron Cartwright came down on the break and was trying to create some space and throw up a jumper right outside the lane with a bit of touch. The only problem is that the lengthy and athletic Johnson could see exactly what he was trying to do and turned the jumper away with a massive block as he sent the ball soaring into the stands past the sidelines:

"Brice Johnson with the monster block! #MarchMadness https://t.co/BRO4rMaTEV— NCAA March Madness (@marchmadness) March 20, 2016"

While coach-speak would say that’s not a good play because Providence kept possession, plays like that with such emphasis can really have a positive impact on a team in moments like March Madness. Brice Johnson’s block is probably the biggest of the tournament and, considering that North Carolina went on a 4-0 run right after that, saying that big block changed the momentum in favor of the Tar Heels isn’t too far-fetched.
