No. 9 Connecticut Huskies vs No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks

If it wasn’t for a miraculous quadruple overtime victory against Cincinnati in the American Athletic Conference Tournament, the Connecticut Huskies might be in a different postseason tournament, the NIT. Connecticut finished the year on a four-game win streak and the Huskies are looking to pull off some March magic once again.

Kevin Ollie won the nation title just a couple of years ago, but the difference between that year’s team and this one is that it had a pure scorer leading the way. Rodney Purvis leads the team with 12.7 points while making 39 percent of his threes. Three other Huskies average at least 12 points per game.

The Kansas Jayhawks are the one team in the tournament that is favored to win it all. The Jayhawks came in as the No. 1 overall seed and with Michigan State losing to Middle Tennessee in the first round, their chances improve even more. Kansas will look to take down a pesky Connecticut team in the round of 32 first, though.

Perry Ellis is the leader of this team and it needs a true veteran presence to lead them in the NCAA Tournament — he has been here before. He’s averaging 16.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Wayne Selden Jr. is second on the team with 13.3 points and 41 percent shooting from three-point range.
