A look at the updated 2016 March Madness bracket after Gonzaga’s upset of Utah to advance to the Sweet 16
The first day of Second Round games in 2016 March Madness is almost completely in the books and, though it’s been incredibly fun, the upsets haven’t been even close to as abundant as they were on Friday and in the First Round as a whole. However, the No. 11 seed Gonzaga Bulldogs were able to change that narrative pretty quickly on Saturday night as they took on the No. 3 Utah Utes.
Despite Utah having the higher seed for March Madness, this game really wasn’t all that close from quite early on. The two teams kept the pace with one another for about the first 10 minutes of the first half, but then Gonzaga started to build an early lead over the Pac-12 team and were comfortably ahead at halftime.
Coming out of the locker room after halftime, Gonzaga seemed to have even more fire and energy than they did in the first half as Domantas Sabonis and Kyle Wiltjer were clicking on all cylinders. Before anyone knew what to think, the Zags were up by 20 points and they only held onto that from there as they comfortably upset the Utes to advance to the Sweet 16.
With the Gonzaga upset of Utah now in the books, let’s take a look at the 2016 March Madness bracket to see where things stand and what’s up next for all of the teams with tickets punched to the Sweet 16.

The Zags’ road will be up against another double-digit seed in the Sweet 16 as they face the winner of Middle Tennessee and Syracuse. However, with how the Bulldogs played on Saturday night, they can compete with any team in the country.
