For a few weeks each year, the NBA takes a back seat to college basketball in the national landscape. We are in the midst of that stretch.

March Madness has consumed the basketball consciousness for a few days as of the time of this post, and even with some attention still paid to the NBA, much of that focus is on the best of the best in the league, highlighted by the Golden State Warriors. The dregs of the association aren’t exactly being covered in great depth right now, but that is what we are here for.

Each week, we rank the bottom five teams in the NBA and this week is no different. Feel free to write off the NBA for a few more days and rely on us to cover the bases with the tanking race. Let’s get it going.

(39-30). Previous: . Memphis Grizzlies. 5. team. 211.
Before we get going, it has to be noted that the Grizzlies don’t look like any other team in this space.

Memphis is (very) likely bound for the Western Conference Playoffs, and their 39-30 record is nothing to discount. However, the Grizzlies are absolutely depleted by injuries, to the point where they have been outscored by 9.2 points per 100 possessions in the month of March.

Dave Joerger and his crew should be commended for their work, but at this point, the current version of the Grizzlies would be near the top of the list for worst teams in the NBA.
