A look at the 2016 NCAA Women’s bracket now that the Second Round is set
The First Round of March Madness in the 2016 NCAA Women’s Tournament is now officially in the books as the second day of games concluded on Saturday night. Saturday saw a few more upsets to shake things up in the 2016 NCAA Women’s bracket, but the top teams in the tournament like the No. 1 UConn Huskies took care of business in emphatic fashion.
After jumping out to a ridiculous 41-4 lead after the first quarter, the undefeated UConn women were basically able to coast from that point forward. The score finished up at 101-49 in favor of the Huskies, but the game was obviously out of hand after the first quarter.
As far as upsets go, another No. 12 seed was able to advance as the South Dakota State Jackrabbits topped the Miami Hurricanes in thrilling fashion to advance to the Second Round. Moreover, two No. 10 seeds secured wins on Saturday as the St. Bonaventure Bonnies and the Missouri Tigers both earned upset victories to get out of the First Round and stay alive now that the field for the NCAA Women’s bracket is down to 32 teams.
Now that the First Round has concluded and the Second Round is set, let’s take a look at the updated 2016 NCAA Women’s bracket to see what matchups lie ahead.

After what UConn did, what you’re really looking for are any teams that look like they’ll be able to challenge the dominant Huskies. Though the three other No. 1 seeds were dominant in their own right, it remains to be seen if they can get to the level that Breanna Stewart and UConn are at right now.
