A look at the updated 2016 NIT bracket after the First Round and a couple of Round of 16 games
One of more underrated parts of March Madness in the NIT Championship is also underway and the action has already been fantastic to watch. While there may not have been as many upsets in the NIT as there have been elsewhere in March Madness, it’s still been fun to watch several teams many people thought were snubbed from the NCAA Tournament get their chance to shine in a college basketball postseason.
One of those snubs in the St. Bonaventure Bonnies was actually the victim of the lone upset of the First Round of the 2016 NIT bracket as the Wagner Seahawks came out and put them away quickly. As for the rest of the First Round, every other game played out chalk with the higher seed advancing to the Round of 16.
In the first two Round of 16 games in the NIT, the BYU Cougars and Valparaiso Crusaders both took care of business as the high-seed in their respective matchups to advance to the Quarterfinals where they will now await their opponents.
With the 2016 NIT Championship underway officially, let’s take a look at the updated bracket to see where things stand out and see what could be in store for hoops fans.
The Round of 16 will conclude on March 21 and the Quarterfinals will be set then. Will it still play out all chalk, or will a dark horse to win the 2016 NIT emerge? Only time will tell.
