Wayne Selden ended Kansas’ victory over UConn with an exclamation mark throwdown of a lob
The Kansas Jayhawks were up comfortably by 20 points for most of the first half and halftime in their Second Round March Madness matchup against the UConn Huskies. However, the Huskies showed some wherewithal and fight in the second half to at least make things respectable. When it came down to the final stretch of the contest, though, Kansas was looking for a play to really put away UConn and Wayne Selden was more than happy to oblige with the help of Devonte’ Graham.
Graham got loose down the right side of the floor on a fast break with Selden streaking down the other side of the floor to create a two-on-one advantage for the Jayhawks. That’s when Graham threw a ridiculously high lob to get it over the hands of the defense and Selden rose up with one hand to throw down just an absurd tomahawk slam:
My word, that is one way to go about punctuating a victory, Wayne Selden.
Selden has shown throughout the year, in the midst of maddening inconsistency for Kansas, that he might be one of the most underrated overall athletes in all of college basketball. He can rise up and throw it down in virtually any situation, so letting him get loose in transition and letting lobs get thrown to him isn’t a defensive strategy that I would advise for future opponents.
