High Salary PG

Chris Paul-Los Angeles Clippers (9,900): Paul had a down game with just 25 points and six assists in 32 minutes last night in Memphis where the Clippers took a tough loss.  He should be able to bounce back tonight, though, as he takes on the Pelicans who have allowed the most fantasy points in the NBA to opposing PG in their last five contests.  When Norris Cole is able to go, the Pelicans D is decent, but with Cole’s prolonged absence teams have had success the backcourt duo of Toney Douglas and Jrue Holiday. Paul is the best PG money can buy tonight although he has only reached 50 fantasy points (full value based on salary) once in his last ten games.

Isaiah Thomas-Boston Celtics (7,700): Thomas has averaged 25.7 points, 5.7 assists, 2.7 rebonds, and 1.7 steals in his three games against the 76ers this season, and he’ll need to carry the Boston offense again tonight with Jae Crowder out and the team struggling on the offensive end.  IT4 has at least 20 points in each of his eight games and has over 30 fantasy points in seven of his last nine.  His non-scoring numbers have been down in his last two contests, but I expect them to return in this good matchup tonight.

Jrue Holiday-New Orleans Pelicans (7,700): Holiday is another PG who will have to carry the offensive load for his team tonight as the Pelicans won’t have Anthony Davis leaving plenty of shots for Holiday.  He had 30 points and six assists on Friday for 44.4 fantasy points against the Blazers after a few down games where his time and production were limited.  With Davis out, Holiday will need to step up as one of the team’s best offensive weapons tonight against the Clippers.

Shelvin Mack-Utah Jazz (6,200): Mack was productive again last night against the Bulls although he wasn’t able to notch his third-straight double-double. He finished with 15 points, eight assists, and five boards for 33 fantasy points in his 34 minutes, but the Jazz fell to the Bulls.  Tonight, he’ll take on the Bucks who are without Michael Carter-Williams and O.J. Mayo who were their first two starting PG options.  Mack will take on Jerryd Bayless instead as he looks to put up his sixth straight game with over 30 fantasy points. He has emerged as a really nice point guard option for Utah after they acquired him from Atlanta at the trade deadline.
