March Madness bracket 2016: Texas A&M survives Northern Iowa

A look at the 2016 March Madness bracket after Texas A&M’s incredible comeback vs Northern Iowa

The Texas A&M Aggies trailed the Northern Iowa Panthers for much of the second half in their Second Round March Madness matchup and, with less than a minute left in the game, were down by double-digits to the No. 11 seed Panthers. However, they then completed one of the most incredible comebacks in March Madness history to tie the game up with a second left on the clock and ultimately force overtime.

The insanity didn’t stop in the first overtime period as both teams seemingly couldn’t miss. Both teams put up 12 points in the first extra frame, but neither could hit a shot at the end of the five minutes to pull ahead, thus leading to a second overtime.

In that second overtime, Texas A&M was nursing a lead with less than a minute left, but ultimately some missed clutch free throws and made some smart possession plays to secure the win in a incredible fashion and advance to the Sweet 16 as the lone remaining team in the Sweet 16.

After the exhilarating win by the Aggies to move on to the Sweet 16, let’s take a look at the 2016 March Madness bracket to see where things stand and to see what will be up next for the Aggies after this taxing affair.

Texas A&M will now face off with the No. 6 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the next round of March Madness, another team that needed a thrilling finish to survive and advance. Things should only continue to be exciting, though I don’t know if it can be more exciting than it already has been.
